Our Mission

To change how organizations do work.

Trao is an AI R&D lab for mid-market and enterprise companies. We research, design, build, and deploy software and AI systems.

We've delivered work across industries, including:

  • Large banks such as CommBank (one of Australia's largest banks)
  • The UK Government
  • US-based family offices
  • Numerous VC-backed startups

Behind the scenes is a team obsessed with over-delivering extremely high-quality work every single day. We are engineering-first, detail-oriented, and focused on solving real business problems through automation that most teams would consider impossible.

We work on very ambitious projects.

The Role

  • This is a Business Development Manager position.
  • You will work at the intersection of business, product, and engineering. Your responsibilities will include identifying prospects, building relationships, and closing customers. As we move toward automating our marketing and growth engines, you will help define the strategy, priorities, and systems needed to build and scale them effectively.
  • This is a high-ownership internship for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, and excited to work on real-world AI and software problems.

Work Style & Expectations

  • 6 days a week, 9 hours/day
  • Fully remote
  • You may often work beyond 9 hours
  • Fast timelines, real deadlines, real ownership
  • Direct collaboration with founders and engineers
  • High-performance bar

If you are NOT detail-obsessed, structured in your thinking, and driven by execution, this role will not be a good fit.

What You'll Do

  1. Problem Structuring & Analysis
  • Break down ambiguous business problems into structured components
  • Conduct research across industries, markets, and competitors
  • Analyze workflows, systems, and operational inefficiencies
  • Translate business requirements into clear documentation
  • You will bring clarity to complexity.
  1. Support GTM & Strategy
  • Assist in building outbound and go-to-market strategies
  • Identify target customer segments and personas
  • Support sales efforts with research, insights, and materials
  • Help refine positioning and messaging for AI-native offerings
  • You will help shape how we go to market.
  1. Product & System Thinking
  • Work closely with engineers to communicate the client's requirements
  • Help define product requirements and feature specifications
  • Contribute to workflow design for AI-powered systems
  • Document use cases, edge cases, and user journeys
  • You will help bridge business and engineering.

Bonus:

  • Experience with SQL or data analysis
  • Familiarity with CRM systems
  • Exposure to AI tools or automation workflows
  • Prior internship or project experience in analysis

Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

  • Strong analytical and structured thinking ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • High attention to detail
